Privacy
goodcrowd is a free guide to what's on in Adelaide. Like any website, we collect some information to make it all work. Here's what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- If you make an account: your email, your name, and a one-way encrypted version of your password (we can never see your actual password), plus anything you choose to add to your public profile.
- If you list an event: the event details you type in. These are public by design.
- If you join the newsletter: your email address, and any event categories you tell us you're into.
- If you contact us or report an event: what you send us, plus an email address if you give one.
- When you use the site: like most websites, basic technical information — pages visited, browser type, rough region — which helps us keep the site fast, secure and improving.
How we use it
- To run goodcrowd — your account, listings, saved events and the reminders you ask for.
- To keep in touch — emails about goodcrowd and what's on. Every one has an unsubscribe link.
- To spread the word — promoting goodcrowd online, including ads on platforms like Facebook and Instagram (see Advertising below).
- To improve and protect the site — understanding what gets used, and stopping spam and abuse.
Emails
There are two kinds. Service emails — password resets and the event reminders you've asked for — we send these whenever they're needed. The good stuff — occasional emails about what's on — we send these if you have an account or have joined the newsletter. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe, and opting out of the good stuff never affects your service emails. We never share your email address with advertising platforms.
Advertising
We promote goodcrowd online, including ads on platforms like Facebook and Instagram. To understand whether those ads are working, we may use standard advertising tools — like the Meta Pixel — which use cookies to measure visits and sign-ups that come from an ad. These tools work from activity on our own site, not from our mailing list: we don't upload, share or hand over your email address (or any contact details) to Meta or any other ad platform. You can limit these cookies any time (see Cookies and Your choices below).
Who we share it with
The trusted services that keep goodcrowd running:
- Cloudflare — hosts the site and our database.
- Resend — delivers our emails.
- Google Analytics — counts visits and popular pages so we can improve the site. It never receives your email or name.
- Fonts and maps — pages load fonts from Google Fonts and event maps from OpenStreetMap. Like any web request, those services see your device's IP address — never your name or email.
They process your information only to provide those services. We may also share information if the law requires it. We never sell your personal information, and we never share your email address for advertising. Full stop.
Cookies
We use a secure cookie to keep you signed in. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used — how many people visit, which pages and events are popular, and roughly which region visitors come from — and it sets its own cookies to do this. Google Analytics measures site activity only: it doesn't receive your email or name, and GA4 doesn't store your IP address. If we're running ads, advertising cookies — such as the Meta Pixel — help us measure how those ads perform and which pages people land on. These cookies see activity on goodcrowd, not your email address. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, turn on "Do Not Track" (we honour it), and manage ad personalisation in your Facebook / Instagram account settings.
How long we keep it
As long as it's useful for running goodcrowd. Close your account and we'll remove your personal details.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from our emails any time (every email has a link).
- Clear or block cookies in your browser, and turn off ad personalisation in your Facebook / Instagram settings.
- Edit or delete your events and profile from your dashboard.
- Ask us what information we hold about you, and we'll tell you.
- Want your account and details gone entirely? Email us and we'll sort it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the date below. For significant changes, we'll email account holders.
